Zimbabwe Australia Alumni Association Cocktail Reception - August 2015
On 6 August, the Zimbabwe Australia Alumni Association (ZAAA) hosted a cocktail reception at the Australian Embassy for Zimbabwean alumni of Australian universities.
The event brought together over 50 alumni from government, the private sector and civil society and gave them an opportunity to reunite, network, socialize and learn more about the Alumni Association’s plans for the future.
Speaking at the event, the Australian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Suzanne McCourt, congratulated the Association for organising the event and expressed her hope that the Association would continue to promote goodwill and people-to-people links between Australia and Zimbabwe as well as providing opportunities for alumni to advance their careers – “I want you all to see yourselves as being part of an exclusive club – one that will provide you with opportunities to meet other professionals and to build links across government, the private sector and civil society.”
The event also provided an opportunity for alumni to sign-up for a new initiative that will link returned alumni with professional mentors drawn from the members of the Zimbabwe-Australia Business Council. By linking experienced Council members with recent alumni the Association will expand the opportunities available to those just starting their careers back home in Zimbabwe.
Of course, the event also provided many opportunities for alumni to socialise, catch-up and share stories from their time in Australia. This will not be the last event organised by the Association, and alumni interested in learning more about joining and participating in the Association should keep checking the Association Facebook Page at: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Zimbabwe-Australia-Alumni-Association-ZAAA/ or follow them on twitter @ZimAusAlumni.
Congratulations to the Alumni Association and to the alumni themselves. The Australian Embassy looks forward to hosting you all again soon!
